That’s why when we select materials for all items of our GERDA GREEN range we do so very conscious of our responsibility. Deciding which material is more sustainable than another is often not easy. In the case of ceramic sockets, for instance, a great deal of energy is used in their production. On the other hand, however, they are very long-lasting. When it comes to light fittings with glass shades, ceramic sockets often lead to the glass breaking. For such products we therefore use synthetic sockets made of recycled material, which has a carbon footprint two-thirds better than primary plastics. Glass in turn can be repeatedly recycled without any loss of quality. That makes it a very sustainable material. In addition to this, we completely offset these products’ few remaining emissions through participation in certificates issued by the German MoorFutures® project. As a result, all GERDA GREEN light fittings have been made 100% climate neutral.
